SHELTER
ANIMALS CAN BE STARS TOO
|
These
are pet stars we added in 2006. Each came from our shelter and
found their way into new homes, they were given a second chance.
What a difference it makes when loving people give a pet the
opportunity to show how loving and loyal they can be.
THANK YOU FOR
CARING! |
This
little girl broke our hearts when she arrived.
She’s all smiles now.
GG
is our first calendar girl! Look for her in the Furry Friends Calendar
published by Pet Play Day, Inc. “She is just a love, very polite…." GG
has brightened our life and our home.”

We knew this mellow
yellow female Labrador as Ripley.
Her new owner renamed her Lexi.
She is currently a certified therapy dog with future aspirations
to be a Search & rescue dog this summer. Lexi accompanies Valerie, a
social worker, to work every week. “Lexi has such a
calming effect on the patients. She even helped a resident to speak for
the first time in many months. Lexi is truly a blessing to my family.
All it takes is a little time, patience and love to mold a shelter/rescue
dog into your most treasured companion” Valerie, Castro
Valley, CA

Moanie showed up at the
shelter a year ago last winter. He is a mix of colors and breeds. Abner is his new name.
“Abner entertains me every morning while I have my coffee – he throws a
tennis ball in the air and chases it. He also takes my spot on the couch
when watching TV".
Gail, Colusa, CA

This little terrier
was found wandering in the weeds along side the freeway last summer. He
was covered in cockleburs, matted hair and fleas. In spite of his down
trodden appearance, he still loved people.
Today
Samson shares his couch with Sarah the cat and Sophie, a rat
terrier.
"Samson loves to play with his Frisbee”
Vivienne, Colusa, CA

Hana
Banana the Diva Dog
This little Diva takes
her job as a therapy dog very seriously. She accompanies Marietta, a
Family Therapist, to work where she participates in the sessions in
her own way by offering a lick on the cheek or by climbing into a
lap and laying quietly. "By day, therapeutic dog, in the evenings
like many professionals she unwinds from her grueling schedule by
settling down on the couch with us to watch Animal Planet, her
favorite show. She takes care of her two legged charges with style
and grace,
teaching unconditional love."

We
named this 9 year old German Wirehair, Vera. She
was picked up wandering the fields this past winter, thin and
hungry. A vet exam presented a diagnosis of warfarin poisoning - rat
poison. This old girl deserved another chance so a FOCCAS volunteer
paid for the vet visit and her medication. With the winning
combination of the meds., good food and exercise, Vera gained weight
and recovered nicely."Vera's loving nature, devotion and loyalty won
our hearts. She is living in the wine country at the home of a
veterinarian."

 These two puppies
were thrown out of a pickup truck. Their litter mate, unfortunately,
had sustained injuries that necessitated that he be put down. These
two were lovingly given a second chance:
