A STORY FROM A HAPPY ADOPTEE

"I just wanted to give a quick update on Patch. His new name is Duncan and he is doing very good at my house!! He gets along great with my cats and my other dog Molly is having a great time with him. She really warmed up to him after the first day and they play all the time. He is just big enough to crawl underneath my bed so  sometimes he hangs out under there with my cats. It's really cute.
I am so glad that you put him on Petfinder, or I never would have met him!
Thank you VERY much for all of your help with his adoption.

SHELTER ANIMALS CAN BE STARS TOO

These special animals found themselves staying at the shelter for a short time before new and caring people adopted them into their homes. Shelter animals come in all shapes, sizes and talents. Give them a second chance and they shine like the brightest stars.

We say a big thank you to the caring individuals who found it in their heart to rescue a dog or cat from the shelter.

This is Shiloh's Story

She was surrendered to our shelter last year because she ate the outdoor furniture, chewed everything, barked and was generally annoying. We learned that her owner had adopted her from a different shelter about three months earlier. The owner couldn't deal with the destructive behavior so he surrendered her to the shelter and authorized us to euthanize her.
Her demeanor at the shelter was quiet, loving and very easy to be around. We took her to the vet for a checkup because both of her eyes were watering excessively. The diagnosis, in layman's terms, was that her eyelashes - on both eyes - were turned inward and were rubbing on her eyeball. This girl was in a lot of pain as any of us know when we have just one small eyelash in our eye!
Her surgery would be very expensive and our group did not have the funds available.
We contacted Save A Dog Rescue located in N. California. Nikki said she would take Shiloh, and give her the surgery she needed. Not only did Save A Dog provide the surgery but they took care of this wonderful dog for months waiting for just the right family to adopt her.
Now not only does Shiloh have a new family, but she has new eyes and a new name, Amber. This picture is worth a thousand words. Everyone has a big smile. Nikki went above and beyond to see that Amber was given another chance. Please visit Nikki's website to learn more about them www.sadt.info. We cannot say enough "thank you" to you guys who were able to give this girl another chance.

Meet Sassy – she is a Miniature Pinscher under one year of age who was bred and undernourished when the Animal Control Officers picked her up. (Her head is turned into the food bowl and her ear is folded back in this photo.)  She had just delivered 5 small puppies at the time of this picture.

Sassy is a case of unknowledgeable people feeding a small dog, food that was too big for her to chew.  She may be an adult but the size of her mouth tells you she needs to be fed food that is appropriate to her size.

Is that a smile on her face?  Yes this is Sassy after 6 weeks of good food, a soft bed and a lot of loving care.  Her puppies received a milk supplement because poor Sassy didn’t have any reserves to give.  Her puppies have all been adopted.
